Over 40 years of being involved with horses has led to a devotion to make the world a better place for the horse, and to help the people that own horses have a better understanding of what they need to offer the horse.
In 1995, I was drug kicking & screaming to a Buck Brannaman (world re-known horseman and subject of the documentary “Buck”) clinic in Acton, CA in 1995. I had a 20-year career in the traditional "stock type horse" show pen, what did a Montana cowboy have to teach me???? That was basically the end of my show career for the next 20 years. After moving to NV in 1996, I devoted myself to learning more about Buck's teachings. In 2010 I took over hosting Buck’s NV clinics, which are an every other year affair now.
I also met Doug Williamson (NRCHA Hall of Fame Inductee and $2 million rider) in 1995. A fortuitous meeting & ongoing friendship, in 2003, I went to work for Doug, traveling with him from show to show, riding, working and learning more about how to train & ride world class cow & cutting horses.
In 2004, I realized that the high pressure world of futurity youngsters just wasn’t what I wanted. I returned to NV and have spent the ensuing time applying the things I had learned from Doug & continue to learn from Buck. I utilize these teachings in my newest passion & return to the show pen, Cowboy Dressage!
In 2017 I attended just 1 day of 1 show to see if they were truly what they said they were. I had a blast & am on a journey to complete my official Cowboy Dressage Clinician status. I attended 2 shows this year, did well and am planning on attending all 3 official gatherings in 2019 with several clients in tow including these wonderful horses!
In Memory of 'the Donk"
I sure miss you buddy, best horse ever!!!
